Ping i25 Driver

KEY TECHNOLOGIES: Eight percent greater inertia from crown to sole than the i20 means more forgiveness. Hosel adjustments allow you to add or subtract 0.5° loft. Geared to players trying to eliminate the left side of the course. Clubface angle at address sits open.

DISTANCE: Good distance, pretty similar to the i20 driver; stacks up well against many of its competitors.
ACCURACY/FORGIVENESS: Fairly good directional correction—toe and heel hits work back toward the fairway; quite forgiving compared to many Tour models, no problems getting it in play; mis-hits are very playable.
FEEL: Consistent, solid sound with little vibration on center contact; very stable sensation from address to finish; the ball seems to jump off the face with lots of speed.
PLAYABILITY: A very versatile club—no problems hitting it left to right, and it’s also easy to draw; launch and overall height tend to be relatively high, comparatively speaking; typical shot is a straight flight.
LOOK: A traditional shape with handsome flat-black finish; subtle alignment stripes make sure you’re square at address.

Some testers say it’s not the longest of the bunch; a small minority struggles with shots going right; alignment stripes on the crown aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.

BOTTOM LINE: The i20 replacement is easy to hit and provides perfectly acceptable distance and good accuracy.
