The new Callaway XR Pro Fairway Woods were developed to give golfers of all levels improved speed, distance and versatility. Designed for the better player who likes to shape the ball, the XR Pro has a deeper face than the standard XR fairways, optimising centre of gravity with a sloping crown. Due to the new design and advanced technology Callaway's engineers have been able to lower the centre of gravity, reducing spin and in turn increasing distance. Following on from the introduction of the 'Hyper Speed Face' in last years X2 Hot fairway, the XR fairway takes it to the next level developing a lighter, thinner next generation 'Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup'. It makes the face up to 36% thinner to increase ball speed. It’s not just speed, it’s forgiveness with a 16% larger sweet spot. The result is explosive ball speeds and maximum forgiveness across the entire face without sacrificing distance. Callaway have gone right back to the drawing board with the XR Pro fairway, taking only key elements from the X2 Hot Pro fairway forward into the new model, completely redesigning the head shape. You can see by the look of the XR fairway that it has flatter leading edges and a higher toe. The face height is slightly deeper vs. X2 Hot Pro for players who use these clubs from both tee and fairway. While the introduction of the new thinner 'Forged Hyper Speed Face' has allowed Callaway's engineers to move weight low and forward in the head with a re-engineered Internal Standing Wave creating a 20% lower CG, 200 rpm less spin and even more ball speed. The shaft is a key element in any club that's why the XR fairway comes stock with the new Project X LZ shaft. The main feature of this shaft is that it produces maximum shaft load during the downswing loading zone, delivering greater energy transfer to the ball.
